Housing Survey reveals increasing levels of tenant satisfaction

An independent survey asking tenants of the Riviera Housing Trust what they think of the organisation has revealed that the majority of people questioned are happy with the services they receive.

Every three years, the housing trust carries out a satisfaction survey of tenants and this year’s survey means that the extra efforts put in by Riviera Housing Trust staff have paid off and the number of tenants satisfied with the overall service has risen from 73 to 79%.

The Trust has also seen an impressive leap from 50 to 60% of tenants who feel they are satisfied with the opportunities to get involved with the way services are delivered.  A Community Development Officer was appointed in 2008 to improve the ways that RHT consults and involves tenants in the management of its services.

Rivera Housing Trust’s Interim Chief Executive explains:  "We are carrying out a comprehensive review of our services and have already put a huge amount of effort into making improvements we will continue examining all areas of service."

"The results of this survey show steady progress and that all areas of our business have improved.  This is testament to all the effort put in by RHT’s staff and the feedback and participation by tenants and credit must go to them for their commitment."

RHT’s repairs service also emerged from the survey with a big pat on the back from tenants.  The service deals with all day-to-day repairs for RHT, as well as planned works such as window replacement programmes or central heating installation.  With more than 7,000 repairs being dealt with last year, 93% of all tenants felt that the attitude of the workers in completing the jobs was good.

Chair of the Riviera Board and Chair of the Operations Committee, James O’Dwyer said:  "I am pleased that our residents have scored us highly on repairs and maintenance.  Our staff and external contractors have put a huge amount of effort into our services and they will be pleased to receive this well-deserved thumbs-up."

"We’ve had an excellent response rate to our request for information and I would like to thank all the tenants who helped us to identify successes and where we need to keep making improvements."
